Meeting Your Needs
We welcome everyone to Angel House and hope the following information clarifies whether the property would suit your needs. If you have any specific query that is not answered then please ring (01584891377) or email via the contact page.
Accessibility:
Angel House started life in the 18th century as a farm with nearly 100 acres of land. It later became a pub and was for many years known as the Angel Inn or Angel Hotel. This closed in 1992 and the building was then converted and extended so that now we have a mix of the old, exposed beams and bare walls, and the modern, double glazing and ensuite rooms.
Consequently the property is on different levels with some steps, both up and down, which makes it difficult to access for anyone with mobility problems.
Children:
The house is situated on Clee Hill, which rises to an impressive 1,200 feet above sea level. The front of the house makes the most of the fabulous location with uninterrupted views to the south west, west and north west. We have an extensive patio that is perfect for soaking up the warmth and enjoying the spectacular sunsets.
However, the drop to the garden level is around 4ft and whilst the rope barrier is fine for adults young children may not appreciate the danger. Likewise there is an ornamental fishpond in the garden that could be both an attraction and a danger to younger children and so we would not recommend the property for those with children under 8years.
Dogs & Pets:
Assist dogs are welcomed and we have dog bowls and blankets should they be needed.
Guests are welcomed to bring their well behaved dogs by prior arrangement.
As Maddi, our cat, lives at Angel House the property may not be suitable for people with severe animal allergies.
Food
We take pride in the food we serve and where possible buy from local suppliers and producers. This in turn helps sustain the local economy, conserve and sustain the landscape and keep the area thriving and attractive to visitors.
As Jenny is vegetarian and Nick lactose intolerant we have no problems in catering for those who prefer a non meat or milk free diet! Advise us of your needs when booking and we shall ensure we can cater for you.
There may be nut products in the kitchen so this may be an issue for people with nut allergies.
Helping the Environment
Angel House sits in an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is surrounded by wonderful countryside. We aim to play our part in keeping the area like this for years to come and so support the aims of such schemes as the Green Tourism Business Scheme (GTBS), Cittaslow, The Shropshire Hills Buy Local & Sustainable Business Schemes.
These schemes require practical evidence of our commitment and more and more ideas reflecting the schemes will be seen over the coming year so in addition to buying local produce and replacing light bulbs we have started harvesting the rainwater and having nesting boxes around the house.
You can play your part by not running water whilst cleaning your teeth, taking a shower instead of a bath and only requesting clean towels when necessary.
